Central California Road Trip Recap

Central California Road Trip Recap — Solvang, Los Olivos and Santa Barbara (CA)

So I may have been browsing either Instagram or Facebook one evening when I saw a photo of a flight of cupcakes from Enjoy Cupcakes in Los Olivos. Their instagram is worth the follow. I will seriously just scroll through and practically start drooling. Anyways; this cupcake place is located in a wine tasting room of Saarloos and Sons winery. I had been there once before with a group of friends and had their wine and cupcake pairings! WINE and CUPCAKE pairings, you ask?! YES, this is no joke. I showed my mom the photo and she suggested us take a little road trip up there the next week, since she had the week off. I mean, how could anyone say no to that!? So I went online and booked us a couple nights in Solvang and researched some dinner spots, and of course called ahead to the tasting room to make sure they would be open when we planned on stopping by. Everything was set, and off we went on Sunday night.  The sunset was gorgeous (as seen below). I must say I love traveling on off days; places are so much less crowded.

Lunch Day 2 — Bacon and BrineBacon and Brine InteriorI really loved everything about this place, especially the farm to table concept. Everything they use is local and the pigs are only raised for them. The menu changes up daily and is very minimal, but makes it so much more fun! I highly recommend stopping in at this place if you’re in the area! The gals that own the place are super cool as well!Bacon and BrineSquash Soup, Pear and Caramelized Onion Grilled Cheese, Chicken Fried Pork Sandwich, Strawberry Lemonade

I can’t remember what the noodle dish was called that I got (looking at the menu now, I think it was the Pan Fried Pancit Noodles), but it was absolutely delicious and so were the duck buns!!! I would be keeping something from you if I didn’t tell you that there is another Enjoy Cupcakes shop in the SB Public Market, and I stopped there to get another mini turtle cupcake to go (my favorite of the flight) and I couldn’t resist the chocolate chip cookie sandwich with buttercream frosting and sea salt between the cookies…..OMG! Worth it. I mean, look at that thing….

I hope this post inspires you to take a spontaneous trip with a loved one, friend or yourself. It is something that not enough people do or at least not often enough. My mom and I are making it a point to travel more often and explore and try out new things. These are the memories that I will remember! Get to living!

Comment down below with the last spontaneous thing you did or last place you traveled?

Happy Traveling,
